Awesome pics !!! :) , last time I went backpacking was 38 years ago just prior to entering the Marine Corps . I went on quite a few trips into the central Sierra's on the John Muir trail especially the June lake loop

The longest of these trips was a 80 mile 2 week trip on the June lake loop

This was only a 12 mile round trip hike. Pretty mild.

Beautiful area. I miss getting out into the wilds.
Last real hike I went on was in Kauai. The Na Pali Kalalau Trail.
That was years ago. My wife isn't big on hiking. Camping?? Not so much.
The most walking we have done was "hiking" around Calico ghost town in Ca.

Does a 6,000 acre cattle ranch qualify as the great outdoors?

We hadn't been on a horse in 5 years prior to going to the Calgary Stampede in 2010.

Decided to get some of the true flavor of the Stampede by staying at a working cattle ranch in Clairesholm, Alberta. 12 hours in the saddle, 3 cattle drives and a great night ride made for a memorable trip (and a real sore ass).

My camping has been in the western states. I've camped in many of the national parks and national forests. Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Glacier, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Bighorn Mts., Black Hills, many of the national forests across Colorado and Wyoming, and others I can't remember right now.
I've not done any camping east of the Missouri river.

my primitive camping days are over.
I'm at the middle age where I would rather be comfortable then getting the full "outdoor" experience.

Mostly just PA my wife was more the camper then me. My idea of camping is a hotel with no pool and no room service LOL.

I asked her that if we got a pull camper then I would be more inclined to camp, but then she flip flopped and said no.

    Man I miss the west.

I try go to State Parks in central NY and Pennsylvania a few times a year. My almost 2 year old daughter has gone a couple of times now - adds a whole new dynamic. Like - no relaxing. Ever. At all. None. At all. Hopefully she'll be able to sit still for more than 47 seconds in another year or so.
