Hey Guys, I know it's a long shot but thought I would reach out to the fellas back home in NY. I live in Texas as of 2000, but was born in Baldwin "Ironic I know". Back in the 80's my dad had to sell his 71 Z28 when my parents bought the house I grew up in. He's been heart broken about it ever since. I don't have much to go on other then the below pictures and the name of the guy he sold it to but figured if it's still driving around in NY it would be hard to miss with the silver paint, L88 hood and motion racing stripes. If anybody has happened to spot it in their travels I would love to know. If not at the very least enjoy the cool pics. Hoping to one day find his car or another one like it.

Very cool ride. No wonder Dads upset! It would be easier if you had a vin to search. There were a lot of badass cars on the street back then. We would stop at Motion and Joel would sell us racing gas out of 55 gallon drums!

Maybe your dad could request a copy of the title with his name on it from the DMV and that would give you the VIN. Not sure if they can look it up that way, but worth a try.

If your Dad still has any paperwork like old service records or insurance cards, they may have a vin#. If still with the same insurance company, it may be in their old files as well.

Thanks for some of the suggestions guys. I’m going to do some research and see if maybe NY keeps track of the registration that far back. Unfortunately other then a spare set of keys the only thing we still have are a few pictures.

Good luck!!! All the best to you! I had a friend who had an 84' Z/28 that he sold and later on tried to find it and indeed did. I think he almost cried when we traced it to a junkyard and there it sat unrebuildable. I wish you better luck!!!!

Unfortunately, New York was not a title state before 1973. Cars were sold by signing the back of the registration,
