Yes. Pickups weren't considered cars as most people didn't use them as one. Up until a few years ago, people around here would put truck plates on their cars so they didn't have to use seat belts. They are required for everything now.

Yes, trucks got seat belts and shoulder harnesses later than cars. My 70 Chevy pickup had lap belts only.

I actually like the design you call weird much better than those messed things we have to suffer with today. Today's supposedly retractable belts are always are either jammed up so they don't pull out or they won't retract and get caught in the door when trying to close it. The old separate shoulder belts never had those problems.

My 1973 Nova SS Hatchback. had the separate shoulder belt. You have 11 years of belt configuration to work from. Even aftermarket. Its all up to you.

....Hard to tell nowadays, as back in the late 70's-early 80's we tossed 'em all out....
My '72 has the two piece front belts...

I am trying to figure out what years will fit a 71. I pulled the complete drivers side set out of a 75 and put in my 71 but the top bracket at the roof has different bolt holes. Not sure what the true set up is supposed to be. I would like to find out. tired of buying stuff online that says it will fit and don't. Figured I would do a little better research this time. Let me know anybody out there
