What do you think about these heads?

My 79 350 has a set of 882 heads 76cc chambers .. i can get a set of mildly ported 462 camel hump heads with 64cc chambers for $450 ...

    I did a compression test and got 125 lbs/sq in readings ....

Assuming the bottom end is stock (dished pistons) and comp ratio is around 8.2/1 what comp ratio can i expect with the 64cc heads?

Assuming there are flat tops instead of dished .. how much comp ratio with the swap?

    Thanks in advance

Stock pistons, composite gaskets, around 9.25:1, flat tops, composite gaskets, maybe 9.75:1.

Oh, and those heads, 2 issues. First is they are pre unleaded fuel heads, so unless hardened seats have been installed, the exhaust seats at some point will need to be replaced. Second, they have no acessory holes, so your alternator and powersteering pump will need a different method of mounting, mostly a pain in the butt.

My advice, save a few more bucks and buy aftermarket heads that have the seats and bolt holes for an easier installation.

Using the correct steel shim gaskets with the dished pistons and 64cc chambers, about 9 to 9.25:1 compression.
    still 87 octane friendly.
You'll need to put the whole short water pump accessory drive on the car as the heads are not drilled for long water pump accessories.

By the time you mess with all that, a set of Vortecs and vortec intake would be about the same price, less hassle and you'll gain 30-40 hp over the 462's.

If you do run them, and only have ps and alternator all you have to do
is make a support bar for the back of the lower alternator mount.
With air it would be a lot harder.
