I have three vehicles I have built 700Rs for, all 3.73 gears. My 79 has drag radials and it won't even turn the tires over if you launch it in a straight line, it just dead hooks. I think the opinion that anything more than 3.73 is a waste with a 3.06 1st gear 700R is a generalization that only holds true for traction-limited cars. If you are running on rock hard 245 width street tires then that is probably a true statement but if your car hooks up, no reason I would not use a 700R with 4.10s. My truck is getting 4.10s very shortly.

T56, tko600, 4l80e, 200-4r would probably be my choices with that rear. I'd suppose the higher rpm the engine spins the more gearing you can get away with.

OK, from the sounds of it I'll just keep my eyes open for whatever deal pops up then.

Buy whatever transmission you can that you can build up yourself the cheapest.
That's what I'd suggest. Plenty of training materials out there to teach you the ropes. :)

You're NOT that far from me, I can help you build one. IT's actually ALOT of fun to learn it.
If it's a 2004R , I have all the materials here I can give you to copy. Even the CK performance manual.

Jake helped me out with the over run clutch lathe part. Kewl Kat.

I thought you just built your first last year ?? Damn......3 already ?? :D
    Awesome.

Yeah I don't sit still for very long. I have built 3 or 4 rears since then as well.

I go all the time, I met scott last time, I hope to get my engine done, and drive the car out there even as a project this summer.
