Just quick note to Jamminj007. A friend of mine bought a iron block 6.0 with a broken pan. 3000 mile engine. Replaced the pan put it in his Nova and after running it he found out the back of the block was cracked. Hair line crack just to the left of the rear cover about in the middle block. The casting must be real thin in that area.

Make sure you check your block carefully. That pan is tough and when it takes a hit that force is transfered directly to the block.

Yup, thats what I have read (and mentioned earlier in the thread). If you got
out there and took pictures and built your case against the Road Maintainence
division of your States Government, you could get a check to fix it. Also this
should be covered by your auto insurance (its a collision). Your insurance will
payout and then go after the State for money.

Well I will know in about a week. I have a break from school and I was hoping to yank it out ; put all back together and have it running by the time I go back to school. I surely hope it didn't crack the block:mad:
I put it on a lift and did not see a crack in the block, but I did see where it broke the backplate.

Did you go back to the scene of the accident and take documentation? Do
you have witnesses that can back up the event?

The crack in the 6.0 was small enough that just looking you couldn't see it until we took a small buffing wheel and cleaned up the back of the block. Magnafluxing would find it in second. May be worth doing just to be sure.

Dude we need more details. I've wondered if a TVS would somehow fit under a stock hood. I think you have a little more room under yours than my firebird but that thing is going to be a beast.
