So now i do have a question about the cable used. Does this need one specifically for the shifter? If so will it hook up to the stock transmission linkage or are there other parts needed.

The shifter comes with the Shifter , cable , and all hardware and brackets for the transmission as well as a Neutral safety switch (only a NSS is included , to get the NSS / Backup combo you will need the part # I gave earlier).

The cable itself is a Morse style cable and is a bit larger than any cable operated shifters I have had in the past , looks like it will work well for a while. The whole shifter in general is a very well built unit it seems.

I ordered a spare cable right away (Just like to have spare parts in case .....) , but I don't believe I will ever need it with as much as I drive my car.

    Hope this helps
