Hi all, I am looking for a reasonably budget priced Big Block 396 to rebuild. This is going to be a budget minded build for the Camaro. I am working on a retiree budget, any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Why a 396?

If it won't be numbers matching you can get a 454 for the same price.

I have an extra 396 I would sell. It was running perfectly fine when it came out of the car. If your interested in it and having it shipped to you, let me know. I know how people feel about buying engines they can't hear run and shipping them.
I can assure you there was nothing wrong with this engine when it was taken out.

Thanks for the heads up on the craigslist find. Unfortunately it is out of my budget. Thanks again.

lol...the OP has a preference, but I would also get the 454 and just tell myself and my friends its a 396 lol. Heck you could theoretically buy a 396 and it really be a 402.
