After running an inverter off the car, during a power outage, I can't keep the gauges fuse (10A) from blowing. Sometimes it blows as soon as I turn the ignition key to "run", and other times it blows after driving a while. Never had the problem before. The alternator checked ok. I've looked for...
Thanks for the power lock diagram - big help! I'm installing a remote opener. The "official" schematic on the Nasty Z28 website isn't correct -it shows a 3-wire switch rather than the correct 5-wire.
I've never seen a GM schematic of these power locks - don't know if one exists.
Yes. I checked for 12 volts all the way to soleniod - even after connector at hood. Had the voltage but solenoid not operating.
Also cleaned and reinstalled ground wire connection on hood. I don't want to pull the hood scoop until I have a known good solenoid. Fbodywarehouse doesn't have any...
Purchased an '80 factory Camaro Service Manual to check on replacement of hood solenoid. Manual is useless - no info on cowl induction and no wiring diagrams.
I'm aware that wiring diagrams are posted on this forum.
GM recommends different distrubutors for differnt engines. I'm assuming that the advance curves and vacuum advance are for specific engines/cams.
There is not a whole lot of information available to determine correct advance curves/distrubutors for non-stock engines.
Ideally, a "dyno tune"...
Just finished putting a 290hp crate engine in my 80Z. There is a recommended distrutor, which I used for that engine, but no recommendation for the 260 that I'm aware of. The distributor from my 80Z would probably work fine - it has 43,000 miles on it and I'd sell it.
I've put a manual switch on my floor shift shaft (80Z). The gas pedal switch only functions when floored really hard. It's nice to have full manual control. Unfortunately, as reported in another post, my solenoid quit and apparently no new stock is available.
