That shifter in the picture is a bit different than I one I had. On mine the levers were longer coming off the shifter body, so the rods were going straight back and not up like those shown. The shifter I had wouldn't work lower down. Might be able to use a 2nd gen shifter with it instead, but I...
It isn't in the same position, it is a bit further back and sits high, here is a link to what it looks like, down in the thread a bit: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/transmissions-drivetrain/604036-t10-shifter-mounting-plate.html
It bolted up no problem, shifter is the main difference. Also...
The 4-speed did stop in 1982 and the tail shaft is a bit different. I had one with a Hurst comp plus shifter, the shifter sits on top of the tail housing with an L-shaped bracket that bolts on the pass side. This made room for the torque arm mount. It still had a traditional trans mount and...
The issue with using a Firebird radiator is the width, the radiator will hit the hood, due to the shape of the hood. FB hoods are pretty much flat across. Tried using a Chevelle radiator I had once, same issue.
Since GM already did a reverse cooling small block (1992-97 LT1/1996 LT4), why try and convert an older block. Sure it could be done, a few have tried it but nothing seems to have come of it. Not sure the end result is worth the effort. Some good info here...
Per this https://www.dirtlegal.com/blog/2019/kawasaki-mule-fire-recall
They are recalled for a fire hazard and problem with the ROPS roll bar not being strong enough. At least that is what I could find out.
I used Magnaflow mufflers along with these baffles in the pipe after the mufflers https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Speedway-Auger-Style-Muffler,1736.html
It worked quite well, never close to sound limit. After rerounting the exhaust, I ended up shortening the baffles halfway and it was a bit louder.
GM did put the 4L60e behind non-turbo 6.2L and 6.5L diesels in the early 90's, probably 1991-93 range, so there should be an ecu out there for it. Rockauto has ecu #16147609 listed for a 92 6.2L C1500, so that is one possibility. look up 1/2 ton trucks and you should be able to find more ecu...
I have a 1993 6.5L TD Silverado with a 2000s HumVee takeout engine in it. They are decent engines, just don't expect them to perform like the newer diesels do. Fuel economy is pretty good, getting about 20-22 on the hwy, 17-18 on back roads. With the 1994-up trucks, you do have to deal with the...
The truck oil pan may work, but if not Summit, Jegs and others do offer pans that will. Summit GM pan for example https://www.summitracing.com/parts/nal-14091356?seid=srese1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI0KeK9Yu15QIVFaSzCh2eHwSwEAQYBSABEgJ0C_D_BwE
Most have already mentioned the things to look for. Plenty of info out there on eliminating the AFM/DOD, so you can solve that issue.
Since it is the same chassis as the Suburban, parts availability is good for them. I haven't heard anyone complaining about the mid gate setup. I personally...
There have been a few scooters with that wheel arrangement. The Niken still has a kickstand as the bike will fall over even with 3 wheels. Neat idea, but not sure I would want one.
If you feel adventurous, you can use the TCM from a 1991-93 Chevy truck with 6.5L Diesel and 4L80E. Engine was mechanical injection so the TCM was standalone. The chip in it can be changed/reprogrammed, seen info on it on gearhead-efi.com. Not sure how common they are though, might be hard to...
