So, if 70-81 cars are equipped with 0-90 ohm senders then their gauges will correspond. I would imagine re pop senders specific for the model year will also correspond with with the original gauges?
Thank you very much Jim, very valuable info there. At present I don't have an ohm meter.
I think I'll place the original sender back in the tank. It worked before it was removed and doesn't appear to be damaged.
Can't say I'm too pleased to hear that, though thanks for low down on that one.
My fuel gauge isn't wired up, plus the car isn't driveable at present. Did G.M. have different senders per model year then? Surely there has to be some way of telling?
In due course the fuel tank is due to be re installed. While re furbishing it the fuel sender was removed, it worked prior to removal.
I'm reasonably sure the tank hasn't been off the car beforehand, meaning the sender is the original, now 37 years old.
My question is this: Should I replace...
I think that's quite a notable point, could the use neoprene result in corrosion. I'd like to think the manufacturer took this into consideration and thus rust isn't an issue.
Thanks for the heads up on the kit available from Summit, I'll steer clear of that.
I agree, that's a fair price for the kit :)
As for shipping to England I use an importer rather than have retailer ship directly. The goods are loaded into a container at a port in Miami, shipped across and a month or so later I collect from the importer who's only a few miles from my address...
When I removed the gas tank sometime ago, I noticed what appeared to be some cardboard like material on the top side. I think there were two strips of this stuff.
Intending to re install the tank in the near future and I'm guessing new "cardboard" strips will be needed? If so what are these...
Before I started on the Camaro, only a very basic set of tools did I have for automotive work. Over the past couple of years since I bought the car some of the expenditure has obviously gone on various tools for the required work.
I dare say most of you chaps have one, but this is my first...
When you say "set them" are you referring to adjustment v
Thanks for clarifying that and the advice is appreciated.
I look the look discs and calipers comparatively to drums. Aside from the aesthetics is there a noticeable difference in performance over drums?
Was that a straight line 100-0? Agreed, 10 ft is nothing but if the brakes are worked repeatedly hard, I should imagine the discs would help out more so?
I'm gonna definitely need the E Brake to work correctly, a manual transmission is on the shopping list.
Were you pleased overall with the drum to disc conversion? Noticeable difference ?
Thanks for sharing the information there, appreciated :) I think I'm gonna need 17" wheels due to the planned C5 or Baer, A.P. etc calipers up front. From a little searching I have heard C10 calipers can be used up the rear or calipers from 4th generation Camaro/Firebird. Might I ask why you...
The other week in an attempt to clean the rear brake lines I snapped the drivers side line. Rather than replace the item (car is undriveable at present anyway) I figured it might be an idea to form an opinion on whether I ought to swap out my rear drums and convert to a discs. Also the rear...
