#me2 on the Hedman ceramics in '04. I went with them for the heavier flange spec and used copper gaskets on the RPM heads; never had a leak. Just remember to order the longer header bolts, the std length ones won't work. Also have grown to appreciate the ball flange collector, no gaskets and...
I used Hedman ceramic coated headers (mid-length) and they have held up great for over a decade and 60K miles.
The Hedmans have 3/8" thick flanges and a ball and socket collector fitting.
These are the same ones I used in '04, and are still going strong! The heavy flange was the kicker for me...
Check out the Performer RPM. My '80 Z has a nice lope, with RPM heads and intake. Never a problem with power brake vacuum. It ran a 12:21 @ 112.5 mph spinning out of the hole with an old school four speed stick. This is in a carving set-up, not dragging, but I was happy that day!
My question: Will the TH350 drive gear count be the same as the ST-10's due to a larger output shaft on the crashbox? I try to learn something new everyday...
Check out 5speeds.com; Paul has an excellent speedo gear calculator in the support tag, and a ton of parts for the old T-10's and Muncies. You'll need to know your gear ratio and tire specs. He lists both which drive and driven speedo gears you'll need. Worked great for my 3.90 gears. Between...
Check the throttle cable, mine looked fine at the ends, but was frayed inside the housing and caused the same symptom. When it finally let loose during a show off moment; I drove it home with my shoelace from the carb, through the firewall and into the cabin as a hand throttle. In traffic with...
Great choice brother, I ran the 6AL with an HEI dist with an in-cap aftermarket coil for a while before the MSD Dist went in. The rev limiter works fantastic for a squirrel like me rowing through a 4 speed crashbox! I thank MSD every time it bounces off the limiter during a 3 gear smokey!
I went with Caltrac's and don't regret it. Tire clearance is what encouraged me to remove the slappers; the mounting bracket was trimmed, but still too close for hard cornering. The launch difference was immediately noticeable.
I recommend backing the preload down for cruising; they can be a...
I just changed my '80 m/c to one from an '81 Z-28. This is the newer style plastic reservoir which sits level. The booster needed to be changed to an '81 also due to the larger protrusion diameter on the new m/c. Since it had to be replaced; I installed a dual diaghram booster from an '81 (4)...
I've been led to believe that while they are based on the Bilstein shock, the valving is proprietery to Hotckis' spec's; that's why the tall dollar, been saving up the coin myself!
I installed Hotchkis fronts on my '80 Z-28 last year to replace a pair of cut WS-6 springs that were a bit too low for the real world. The handling difference was immediate and it also corrected an oversteer problem. I have a set of PST rears with only a few seasons on them, now I'm going to...
