Pics of my new TKX box...

My Magnum came strapped to a pallet, although i also received the clutch pkg, bell, & hydraulics from Hurst. The box it came in couldn't have been any heavier construction, and was made to fit the trans perfectly. If you could have picked it up and shook it, it wouldn't have moved an inch. That...

Tranny leak that keeps getting worse

When i bought my '70, it was supposed to be a rust free, done car. When i got it, there was a trans leak. I have a lift, so replaced the pan gasket and new filter. Still leaking. Turned out the pump bolts were stripped, and it was a slow migrating leak from the front. Fixed that. Bought a Tremec...

I guess i expect too much

Decided to go ahead and order preformed stainless brake lines. Was going to just get the front and rear, and reuse the original front to back, so went ahead and welded in my frame connectors. Son talked me into to getting all, so it'll just more difficult getting that front to rear in. Anyway...

Initial breakin of new crate engine

Thanks guys. I'm going to stick w/ the Mobil 1 for breakin and do the prelube procedure before hand. Those prelubers are expensive. I saw an ad for the GM Kent Moore official preluber.... a plastic container, hose w/ a handpump........$900+. How do they justify a price like that for something...

Initial breakin of new crate engine

So on another note, and i'm sure it's been discussed at length, my manual says to use Mobil 1 5w-30. Got it. Just read a Hot Rod article and they're using Lucas breakin oil for breakin on a LS3. I know breakin oil usually is high in zinc additives for flat tappet cams, is there any benefit for a...

Initial breakin of new crate engine

my manual is a little different on the breakin. where above says to prime the engine w/ some type of preluber, my manual says to remove power to the engine control module, and use the starter to spin the engine and build oil pressure. i think using some type of preluber to build pressure would...

Initial breakin of new crate engine

ok. All that sounds good. Not pulling the engine for a dyno breakin, but was going to take it to a tuner after running, so will talk to them, and may let them breakin and tune at the same time. Thanks guys

Initial breakin of new crate engine

So got hooked on Hot Rod Engine Masters on cable, and one of the shows this weekend was about using a dyno to breakin a new engine. I have a GMPP LS3 w/ the hot cam, which apparently is not all that hot. Anyway, one thing they mentioned was that if you're going to install coated headers, that...

Anyone running the GMPP LS3-480 crate engine?

Anyone running the GMPP LS3-480 crate engine w/ the hot cam? Getting ahead of myself, but where does the vacuum hose from the brake booster go to on the engine, and is there enough vacuum from the engine w/ the hot cam? FYI, the cam specs are .525" lift intake & exhaust, 219* intake & 228*...

    Pics of rear brake lines

good thinking. '70 small block w/ front disc, rear drum. since i converted to a ford 9" rear w/ disc, there are no brackets to hold the lines. at this point, i know the stock front to rear line ends w/ a male 7/16-24 fitting, transitioning to a rubber line that has a 2 - 3/8-24 block, and then...

Can someone tell what this bracket is for?

funny story. buddy asked if i wanted to ride out to Outlaw Performance, and take the shop tour. if you're into street rods, i'm sure you've heard of Outlaw. they don't advertise cause they don't have to. that's why you never see any magazine articles touting them. they were told it's because...

    Pics of rear brake lines

Can someone take some pics of your rear stock brake lines? and the mounts welded to the diff housing and the ditribution blocks to both sides. I got rid of my 10", and don't remember what there was. I know the front to rear ends behind the back seat hump for the rear, and transitions to a rubber...

Can someone tell what this bracket is for?

thanks. started my car about 5-6 years ago, and walked away for quite a while. had a ton of pics on here using that photo bucket site? that's long gone. i guess the pics are too. had a progress thread going, but don't remember where it is. i'll take some pics tomorrow of the major mods.

Can someone tell what this bracket is for?

The bracket is located on the left front framerail, right behind the upper control arm. It's main purpose is to hold the hard brake line to rubber brake line going to the left front brake. I'm wondering about the part that rises up on a slight angle, and has a small hole drilled. Whoever thought...
