    Repair Drivers Side brake line.

I believe this is the kit I used and it worked great for the flex lines. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-220386/make/pontiac/model/firebird/year/1979

    Repair Drivers Side brake line.

The method I used to bleed the brakes is quite simple. Start with the right rear. Open the bleeder and crack a beer. Place a catch pan underneath. Once clear new fluid is flowing, close the bleeder. Left rear is next with another beer. Keep the Master cylinder full all the times. Never push a...

    Fuel filter 1972 402

The OEM rubber lines and ethanol gas hate each other. It's time to replace them if they are suspect or not. High chance they are swelled shut. The tank will have to be dropped to get at some of them. It really isnt that big of a job if the tank is almost empty. Once the tank is dropped, the...

    Repair Drivers Side brake line.

Inline tube is the place to get brake tubing. Online and its way easier than you think. Its one piece from the axle to the brake master cylinder. Can be accomplished while on jack stands. It's time to replace everything at this point. Especially the rubber flex lines at each front wheel and at...

79 Z-28 died while driving and will not start

Could be the timing light isnt picking up enough juice thru the pick up to light it up?? Is there a testing procedure for the module? With a volt meter make sure you have 12 volts going to the distributor, not 8 volts or even 9 but it should read what the battery is putting out with key on...

79 Z-28 died while driving and will not start

It should read about 8 to 10 degrees BTDC, if it reads way off the charts, it could be a jumped timing chain or the plug wires arent in the right holes. If you get spark, connect the timing light to all of the wires, one at a time. If a different cylinder(7 or8) shows up on the timing marks...

    Speedometer Cable Replacement

Good luck trying to find that grommet. I tried to replace the one in my 79 and they the only ones they sell are a different diameter. If yours is falling apart, which is likely, measure your old one before ordering a new one. Just going off memory, but I believe the older gen II's like yours are...

New alternator and plug, still not charging

The gauge was removed, and wired directly to the battery with the car running and it showed the correct voltage. So I ran 2 new wires to the gauge, a new ground and a new positive to the fuse box. Installed it and it's working as it should.

New alternator and plug, still not charging

After digging into it a bit, the factory gauge is still showing just under 12 volts when the car is running. The volt meter connected on the battery is showing a charge, 14.32. The gauge was the problem all along. I had the dash out last year for re-covering, so all the gauges were removed and...

EFI conversion: the good, the bad and the ugly.

Okay, about 25 minutes of run time and no leaks. Yea me! The weather has been rotten (snow) so I've ben waiting for at least some dry weather to run the car. All seems good and I put the access panel back in the trunk. I welded some steel strips in the middle and on the outer edge to make the...

The Future of Battery Electric Automobiles

Not everyone lives in their own house. Many live in apartments. Can you imagine the thievery of extension cords on a nightly basis? Slightly open windows with cords hanging out? Or running a cord across a sidewalk? The EV thing is fine IMO. But it really isnt up to the job with current...

EFI conversion: the good, the bad and the ugly.

The pump mounting plate has 6 holes in it. It would be better with 12 holes. The way its designed, the pump can be turned/mounted in 60 degree increments , which is too much. The new gas tank has 6 holes, so the pump can be mounted in any direction( 60 degree) Just adding another 6 holes...

    changing seat position?

I did it on my 79 T/A. I moved the rails forward on each seat. It's been awhile so Im going off memory. I believe the rails are riveted to the sliding part. Grind rivet out and drill a new hole and use red loctite on the new bolt/nut. This will gain a little over an inch and it dont cost...

EFI conversion: the good, the bad and the ugly.

Lol, she moved. I did find the return line pressure its 3 psi . Today I'll start the car with the gas tank still on the ground and see if there are any leaks. Then decide on an access door in the trunk. I looked into a replacement trunk floor pan that would match and lay over the access...

The Holley kit tells you to use the same feed hose for the return line also. the pressure feed line did not leak after 5 turns of the key off and on. I think the return line pressure is higher than you think, but I will do my best to confirm.

EFI conversion: the good, the bad and the ugly.

I've asked a few people and 10 to 12 psi is their best suggestion. For a return line. Looking at the top of the tank, and the return line was the culprit. I'll check with the Holley Sniper website to confirm pressure. I'll keep ya posted.
