I have bought (and returned) a few steering boxes for my ‘80 Z28 clone and I must say the Borgeson 600 was the best but still a bit light steering...
The top lever controls a flap that is mounted in the cowl and leads air to the square vent openings left and right.
It's the other way around, when the hood is up the springs are in the "rest" position and when the hood is closed they are "stretched out"

I purchased the box thru Summit and they say send it back and we will ship out a replacement.

Ok got the box installed today which is a pretty straight forward job since my car has allready metric hoses and the correct input connection....
I have the MC version and they fit just fine.
I had an '87 Z28 box on mine which had a lot of play at center.
Tomorrow I will be installing a DSE 600 box, I will let you all know how that...

You need the '85 to'92 Z28 or IROC steering box, the Z28 is 2.5 turns lock to lock and the IROC is 2.25 turns lock to lock they have the same...
Yup, my Hotchkiss springs had the same number style, I'm not sure if it was exactly the same number though.
I have them on my '77 and on the '80 and I love them, would never change back to any other brand.
I have tried Delco, Koni, QA1, Monroe and Kyb...
