Plan was to punch it out to 408ci. Having issues deciding whether to budget build and keep lower end for a while or just buy rotating assembly and go 408. Plan is also for some turbos. Drive train will be this year. Bodywork will take forever!
Been awhile. But would like to post some progress. A very good friend helped me this weekend working on panel replacement and fitment. I have read many horror stories on aftermarket fitment. Boy I lived it this weekend. Slow progress but progress none the less.
Outer wheelhouse, trunk drop off...
Been awhile, but project has been moving along. I sourced a used door and front fender and then worked on getting panel alignment. All sheet metal is on the car and lined up. Just moved on to cutting roof off and rear quarter. Roof, rear quarter, in trunk drop off, tail pan etc will be being...
I think I need a project board... Kind of feel like I dont really know what to do next. I could
1. Put the passenger door back on.
2. Still need to find another drivers door and fender.
3. Wanting to do a roll cage
4. Sanding and priming front end sheetmetal.
5. Replacing bad sheetmetal.
6...
Yeah, it is difficult to keep track of all these parts. I always said I would have it neat and organized. Just not enough room to be that way. Struggle to keep stuff together. Lol.
No problems. It was an awesome trip and a great show, hopefully I will make it back!
Spent yesterday and will continue today clearing garage for the winter, getting the snowmobile dug out. Have the cars area pretty well cleared out. Going to be putting up a plastic wall on sliders so I can...
It was my first time, needless to say I had a great time! Will definitely have to go back.
It may seem small, but today was a milestone for me. This thing is rolling!
Plan is to get this on all 4 wheels very soon, that way I can clean the garage which is in a state of disrepair as seen in pictures lol! Winter is coming quickly..
Made some progress. Then I hit another dead end when it came to the pitman arm removal. Need to pick up the tool to remove it. Have the steering box out of a newer z28 with the better ratio. This will be going on next.
Thanks, yeah between work and family and house projects, it has been difficult. But it is good to see progress being made on it. Huge grin when I was able to roll it out of the garage. Back on wheels soon, then will be working on sheetmetal this winter if all goes as planned.
Finally have some wheels on this thing. Progress has been slow. But that's what happens when life gets in the way. Some pictures. Next to do is get the subframe centered and snug it up. Start putting the front back together.
Car finally off of rotisserie. Rear end all buttoned up ready to go back in. Realized I missed the front leaf spring pockets. They had to be sanded and are now being powdercoated along with a few other odds and ends. Using an oer install kit for rear end and everything is coming together nicely...
Looking to assemble the front subframe pretty soon here. Going with an ls motor. I realized I should probably install motor mounts now before lower control arms. I no longer have the factory mounts that bolt to the subframe and will need new ones. I have read a number of posts about ls motors...
