Thanks, I am thinking the same thing about Prime Line. I stopped by an A/A store tonight and they don't have them listed in their computer. It is only listed on-line direct to consumer
I am going to my local Advance Auto store and ask which Prime Line, although they don't stock it, being a special-order item, is equivalent to the 2bbl Rochester
I am trying to decide between carbs carried at the 3 big box auto stores:
1. Advance Auto - Prime Line x 2 doz models with LTW
2. AutoZone - United 3-3398 with 1 yr warr
3. O'reilly's - Tomco 2-511 with 90 day warr
I find it hard to believe Prime Line is going to offer so many remanufactured...
I bought both on Ebay recently and both sellers claimed NOS, but the more opaque white cap at the top of the frame is reminiscent of the aftermarket OER model, where the more translucent cap at the bottom of the frame favours yours and my old original cap. I have had poor luck with the OER caps...
By L side, do you mean the side closest to the outside, which's more proximal to the inner fender wells, which is also fed by the radiator? If that is the L side, then I hope the larger lumen hose will still snuggly fit the radiator egress port. Thanks.
This is the 3rd time in as many yrs, that I have had 1 of the 3 the nipples break on OER #340194 radiator overflow reservoir. Are they made that cheaply? Has anyone else experienced this problem and I wonder if I would be better off spending the extra money for a NOS OEM cap?
Thanks for the replies. I am just trying to keep it simple and somewhat stock, plus not break the bank. There are dozens of Rochester 2bbl clones out there, ranging from $75-125 ea, so do don't if I should go by price and lower vs upper.
After almost 50 yrs and mult rebuilds, its best days are behind it. The debate is whether to replace it with a Rochester-like clone for $100 vs $400 for the real deal.
My original carb has been rebuilt mult X's and I am looking at replacing it. Are these $100 online import carbs OK and is one brand any better than the other or should I spend $400 for a new Rochester replacement? Thanks!
