1972 with U14 Gauges
I have swapped the auto trans to manual. No longer need the automatic transmission indicator in the dash. What replaces it? Simple black tape over the lens or is there a block out plate that fills in with the carrier? I've searched but can't find what I am looking for...
Lowend, thanks. I appreciate the feedback.
I have continued my info search and found a great thread right here on our forum: https://nastyz28.com/threads/sticky-thread-for-wheel-and-tire-combos.47101/
What is impressive is that I saw your post from 2006 about running 17x11" 5.75" Backspace...
Thank you for explaining and the link. These 9.5 with the 5” backspace would be just for the rear. I just can’t visualize how far out that would bring it out with the tire. I wonder if it would be behind the inner fender lip or past that. Would it be as far out as the outer fender reveal...
I have been looking at these rims but I am having a hard time visualizing how they will sit with the 5.05 backspace. Does anyone here have experience with these or a similar setup and backspacing? I am thinking something like a 275/40. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/rid-675-7961s

Purchased a 72 that had just been swapped from a TH350 to a T10.
1) Reverse lockout assembly is missing therefore no backup lights. On a 72, this would have been a Muncie. Looking around I am finding that the lower reverse lockout rod, swivel and upper rod to column for this year state they...
The immediate stuff I can think of:
I have to do the complete interior. Changing to all black. Original white seats in great condition but changing to black. Door panels are shot. Sail panels cooked. Center console missing. Dash pad already replaced.
Will change cluster to all instrument...
Hey unrestored72Z, nice to see another local NorCal guy.
The short answer is that he will not do paint for hire. So, here is the whole story... I purchased a 1971 in Folsom. Maybe you saw it on Craigslist at the the beginning of the year. The guy was literally moving at the time he posted it...
evilWS6, yet another great reply. Thank you very much.
I agree with you on keeping quality towels. I have been getting mine from "The Rag Company". I like the cotton edgeless ones for wiping off between polishes. I color coded for the type of product that they were used for; Blue=Polish...
evilWS6,
As before, what a great reply!
Both of my polishers are DA. The Flex is the XC3401VRG and the PC is the 7424XP. Thank you very much for your suggested method on how to approach this job.
I keep loads of pads on hand and have been using the Hexlogic because they seem to hold the...
EvilWS6, you are spot on! While the painter did "bring the paint back" there are swirls. It needs to have final detail. The paint has been done for about three weeks. Just took me some time make the drive to pick it up (2.5 hours away). Anyway, I'll wait a few more weeks before I hit it...
Thanks for the thoughts. Absolutely. That is what is happening right now. Just curing. It has been sanded 1500/2000/3000 and then hit with compound and wool pad just to bring it back. Nothing else at this time. It definetly will need to be final corrected once she is done cooking, which...
Thank you gentlemen! Thanks for the picture McCune. I see it tucked up right above your exhaust on the drivers side. Once the heat breaks, I'll get her up on the lift and see what is what.
I picked up my 72 and it came with a bunch of extra parts. There is one part that I can not identify and have no idea where it goes.
Here are some pictures. Can anyone tell me what this is?
Just picked up my 72 Camaro from paint. I has been wet sanded down to 3000 and compounded. I am giving it time to cure before doing a full paint detail. What products do recommend for a first paint polish / sealant / wax (or other final coating)?
Thanks.
They sure look to use the same product photos. There must be a relationship.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm not sure how similar the 1981 and early 2nd gen A/C bracketry are. Are Classic Air and Original Air the same? I am doing this stage 3 kit from Original Air. I was looking at Vintage Air but their lead time right now is 16 weeks and they are $500 more. Original Air...
