When I first bought my 80 it had a quadrajet carb on it. I used that Corvette base on it with the Z28 rubber ring and it worked with the factory cowl hood.

Matching the color seems not to be a problem, it is trying to get the suede finish right that seems to be a challenge. I kinda remember years ago even with the right lacquer formula it was hit or miss.
