Thanks for the thoughts Steven. I just tried the signal lights with the car not running and the gauge acts the same. I will have to do some more looking this winter.

Ì sold the car in the mid 70's with the 4sp. I was just stating not all cars came with consoles.

My 71 BB 4sp came from the factory without a console, rubber boot only.

Of all the cars I have had I always go back to my 71. The car was written off after I sold it in 74 and the vin number does not show up on my DMV file. GM Canada require the vin number which I do not have. Would there be any way to trace a car that was delivered to a specific dealer in Canada...

If they did not weld the fender holes you maybe could poke the bondo out, tape the area first. I had a 71 SS 396 back in the eary 70's.

On my 57 I noticed that when my signal lights flash the voltmeter moves about 1/2 V down then up when the light goes out, both sides. I changed bulbs but no change in what is happening. I have led in the taillights. This did not happen for the 15 years since I built the car, aftermarket wiring...

M My old pump has 2 vent holes above the diaphragm which is how I knew it was shot. The other old stock I put on also has the 2 vent holes, will see if it goes bad. Just finished putting in an electric near the tank just in case.

I put an old used pump that my buddy gave me on my rebuilt 350 and about a month later it leaked through the diaphram. Todays gas causes all kinds of issues on our old stuff. Also the gas ruined the pump on my HenryJ.
