These guys above are right. The split bumper was part of the RS option. Only. Period. It also meant the parklamps were moved from below the bumper up to, and in between the headlamps and the grill, AND an endura-type grill surround nose extension. I'm not a fan.

You could try going back down on the rockers and seeing if the Nox Vidmate VLC drivability improves. What gears are in it? Are the mixture screws responsive when you turn them? Idle vacuum?
