Same thing I found. 1978 needs upgrade anyways if you want some muscle. I have a 1971 350 CJL for my 77 Z28 since it's missing the engine. Besides these years were mediocre power.
Finally tried Muraitic Acid from Home Depot, etc. Be very careful and follow instructions on lable for safe handling. Only thing is it won't take off grease or paint, etc. After a couple hours soaking all the rust comes off, bolts, nuts, anything that will fit in container you use. Rinse it off...
I have a 402 Got me guy! I just looked and they're domed pistons in her. Look to be about .125 that with my 241's it should be in the 8.5:1 c/r neighborhood. I think a nice old 490/510 cam ?? I figured on going with a TH400 and 3:42 gears.. In my 72 Camaro SS 396 clone. I've got...
These heads I have a set of 421's for my 454 .060 with .120 domes 113 cc open chambers it says on all the websites. The 820's exactly the same heads for my 1971 402 std bore flat tops 113cc open chamber.. You saying my 402 with flat tops and 8.5:1 c/r stock can net me a lot of power without...
Thanks man! If you're getting those clearances with flat tops I think my .120 domes with intake valve reliefs should keep me more than safe. Especially when I plan on a cam of like 510/520 Ideal factory valve clearance is .80 int and .100 exh Got to keep those other numbers in check.
Pistons already installed in my 454 when I bought it. Bored .060 I'm getting a dome height of .120? I'm thinking effective dome volume being -10.5 cc? Deck clearance at .025
Got my 71 402 from a Chevelle for my 72 Camaro SS clone Stock engine needs rebuild I know stock SS's power for 72 was a quaint, LOL, 240 H.P. NET Factory stated c/r as 8.5:1 but using Summit's calculator it comes up at 8.15:1 So just what am I looking for to bump the power up to 340+ and...
I've been using the Summit Racing c/r calculator and I come up with 9.25:1 on my .060 over 454 using 113 cc open chamber heads. My dome height is .120 could be off a few though. I'm thinking that's an effective dome volume of -10.5cc. I think running a cam with 510/520 would put me where I...
I'm keeping the smaller valves, I think I'm pushing it already. LOL I've heard boring actually increases compression ratio. You'd think it would do the opposite..
