I have heard the same. These bolts are actually 9/16”. It looks like the torque is about 90-100 ft lbs and that’s about the point where the plate started to do so.
Hey I know this thread is old, but I have a question: I have these springs on my Camaro. Do you know how much torque you used on the U bolts? I can't find it anywhere, but Eaton has a chart that says 90 ft lbs for 9/16" u bolts. Thanks!!
Thanks for that. I went back and I believe these to be 9/16," not 5/8." the through holes had to be drilled to 5/8" to accommodate the larger u bolts with these springs. Also, they are grade 5. I'm feeling like 90-100 ft lbs is safer. I haven't driven it since I tightened them, so I should be good.
Hey guys,
I just installed a factory style rear sway bar on the Camaro (77) that utilizes the 4 inner u bolt nuts for the sway bar mounting plate. To install the bar I naturally had to remove these 4 nuts from the u bolts.
I couldn't find out how much to torque these u bolts back to, so I did...
This is the set up I have in my 77 Camaro with the in-tank pump and no return line. I also use Hyperspark to control the timing. I've set up Sniper on 3 cars in the past few years. I have nothing against carburetors, but I will prob never go back to one. Installing sniper has been the best...
I think that's just for the front. What they did there is basically what I did. I didn't see any rear pictures of brackets, but forgive me if I missed something. They say they utilized the factory brackets and just removed the spacing shims for the rear. I just don't see how.
Hey everyone,
I recently posted about an issue I was having with a painter that I am glad to say I got a friend to help me finish.
Another friend and I came up with a unique way to mount to front bumper after we filled to filler panel holes and removed 90% of the bracing.
The rear bracing is...
Hey thanks a lot! It's a factory gold actually. The car came in this color. I hate to hear that about your friends Mustang. I can surely relate. I'm glad he got something else, though.
Me and my buddy actually took most of the front brackets off, and cut the front bumper down. We also sank it...
Just thought I’d post this. I just let my buddy who’s done some paint work in the past for me take a look at this Camaro. He says it will cost me $5500 to fix this mess.
I’m going to have a fortune in 77 Camaro here pretty soon lol.
I have an update on my Camaro. I finally had to forcefully get it out of "purgatory" from the "painter" a few days ago. The ironic thing is he literally didn't paint anything other than the primer you see below. He also tried to dodge me from picking up the car, saying his driveway was too...
I’m so
I’m sorry you went through this. It’s so aggravating having your investment you spend countless hours and effort tied up with someone who just can’t get anything done.
Your car looks great, btw. Facebook market place is a great idea. I might consider this.
What is this bs so...
