Exhaust Manifold Heat Riser Tube Housing Replacement

Thanks for the info. I have the replacement housing: GM Part: 338471. This one only has 1 rivet holding it on. My old housing is gone and the rivet is in the exhaust manifold. I was going to drill it out carefully and replace. I doubt I can get a chisel behind the rivet head, but will check...

Exhaust Manifold Heat Riser Tube Housing Replacement

Has anyone successfully replaced the heat riser tube housing that is riveted to the right side exhaust manifold? The housing holds the tube that directs warm air to the carb. My housing is missing and I am planning to replace it as part of my restoration. Looks like the rivet is still in the...

Chevrolet Orange Engine Colors for 2nd Gens

Apologies if this has been answered before. I was going to repaint the upper end of my engine and learned there are two shades of Chevrolet Orange: Duplicolor DE1607 and DE1620 at my parts store. 1620 appears a more reddish orange. Can anyone shed some light on the correct colors for 2nd gen...

Tell me about seat covers on new upholstery,, please.

I use an XL cotton T-Shirt that I pull over the top seat cushion and have a terry cloth towel for the seat cushion. Easy and fast to remove when I get to shows. Cheap and comfortable.

Anyone Converted Their Washer Pump to Electric?

I had to do a repair on my wiper motor. The resistor on the terminal board rusted apart and I was lucky to find a NOS part on the 'bay. Motor is working fine again with new grease and clean-up. I disassembled the mechanical washer pumper to clean out the hardened grease and re-assemble. Haven't...

Wipers Won't Turn Off: 73 w/Hidden Wiper Stock Setup

Possibly got the problem solved. After spraying the "park switch" a few times with electronic cleaner, the motor is going into "park" mode and stopping properly. I am continuing to test and plan to re-grease a few parts and wrap this up. Thanks again for everyone's help and especially "Double R...

Wipers Won't Turn Off: 73 w/Hidden Wiper Stock Setup

Update - I got the wiper motor working on my bench using my wiper switch, a spare 12v battery and the video from Double R Restorations. My issue appears to be with the "Park Switch" in the motor. It will not trip /engage when the wiper switch is switched to "off" position. I can see the park...

Wipers Won't Turn Off: 73 w/Hidden Wiper Stock Setup

Thanks for the feedback. I agree, the issue is likely within the motor's park switch. I have the wiper motor on my bench and plan to do some troubleshooting this week. There is an excellent video on YouTube by "Double R Restorations" on these motors / switches.

12v Battery Charger As Power Source OK To Test Accessories?

Twisted_Metal - thanks for the info. Another battery charger (that I can borrow) has a "car start mode" at 50 amp. Would this be more suitable? Has settings for 10/20/50 amp output. Appreciate the help. I am bench testing / troubleshooting a Wiper Motor w/concealed wipers; won't go into park...

12v Battery Charger As Power Source OK To Test Accessories?

I am bench testing my wiper motor unit and wanted to double check that using a 12v automotive battery charger is safe for a power source. I believe my charger is a 12v / 6 amp output. I just wasn't 100% sure this was a good practice. Thanks

Wipers Won't Turn Off: 73 w/Hidden Wiper Stock Setup

Has anyone had this problem with their wiper switch? Mine starting acting up and now will not shut off the wipers when the car is on. My setup is all stock. No one has messed with the wires or done any changes. My first guess is the switch has gone bad. Anyone ever opened one up and repaired it...
