Why I will always personally inspect a car prior to purchase, 1970 Z

As a follow-up to my previous post about not letting a potential buyer drive my car, it has nothing to do with intent to purchase, how far they traveled, etc. For me, it has everything to do with the "unforeseen oops". All of my toys are stick shift...what if the guy thinks he's better at...

Why I will always personally inspect a car prior to purchase, 1970 Z

I disagree. No one is driving my car without them having some skin in the game. I'll take then for a ride and flog it, but unless I have cash in hand, too many bad things can happen and they just walk away. Don't like my terms?...no probelm...next.

    1970 Camaro Legends Judging Manual

Exactly. A great example is bumper jacks, load rests, bases and lug wrenches...mind boggling. As for the bolts, many had multiple suppliers. As an example, I disassembled an untouched 70 L48 engine and found three different mfgr marks on the intake bolts.

    1970 Camaro Legends Judging Manual

Lots. Actually I do not have a total count but we used as many Norwood and LA cars as we could access. In addition, a lot of original take-off component items were used so collectively, cars and parts that number in the "dozens". The challenging aspect, as you alluded to, is finding original...

    Looking for 70 z28 4spd

I do not think it is fair to claim a 53 year old car with 21,000 original miles should have original paint, tires, etc. because it all depends on how the car was cared for over 5 decades....and obviously, this car probably was not cared for prior to the resto. I also agree having mounds of...

1970 Z-28 front fender emblem dimensions

No clue....but I vote that it was workers on the line not placing the template correctly. Also, keep in mind this is just one example. On the same car, the left front hood stripe extended almost 1/2" further forward on the header than the right hood stripe.

1970 Z-28 front fender emblem dimensions

Try this. These were dimensions I took off my 05C Norwood unrestored car....and yes, the passenger side emblem was 5/16" further forward on the fender than the driver side emblem.

    Stock 70 z28 distributor

Realistically, it's pretty straightforward and not difficult. But, if you're looking to have the final unit restored and tested to factory specs, you'll need someone with an old Sun machine. I know Jerry MacNeish restores and tests distributors [email protected].

Original 18" Fan and CV clutch from early 70 Z28

From previous research, the fans stamped with #3947772 were produced by Schwitzer. Fan #3956684 was produced by Hayes-Albion and was very similar but did not have a stamped PN. The primary visual difference was the square-ish fan blade mount with 4 rivets of the Schwitzer unit versus the...

    1970 Camaro Legends Judging Manual

This was an early rendition of the cover...the Camaro script has already been corrected as we knew even the smallest details would be scrutinized.

    1970 Camaro Legends Judging Manual

For those not familiar...The Legends Judging program within the Camaro Nationals is the premier format for judging 1st and 2nd Gen Camaros that have been restored to concours level as the car would have left the factory. The Legends program operates on a 5,000 pt scale which provides incredible...

Weird question - 1972 Z-28 Air cleaner sticker..what is correct?

The engines were fired at the engine plant using a hood that fed a premix ratio of air and propane or NG..can't remember which. No coolant, so they ran for seconds to verify oil pressure, no noises and set basic timing. Engines were produced a such a rate that there was no time to run them for...

Weird question - 1972 Z-28 Air cleaner sticker..what is correct?

With all due respect, it's not a question of "if" the air cleaners were installed at the assembly plant or not. It is well established that the carburetors were also installed at the assembly plant, not the engine plant and therefore it would not have been possible for the aircleaner to be...

Weird question - 1972 Z-28 Air cleaner sticker..what is correct?

Aircleaner was installed at the GM plant, not the engine plant. "CU" is the broadcast code for the aircleaner assembly and had nothing to do with cubic inches.

1971 hood lock catch bracket screws.

Thanks...I was hoping it was an early build, but it's not. BTW, LA or Norwood?

1971 hood lock catch bracket screws.

Drawing a conclusion that Chevy never changed to more than 6 pt. bolt on the hood latch of Camaros based only on '70 and a '77 model years is irresponsible. Jurquhart - what is the build date of your '71Z? I read through the thread and did not see this info.
