I'm wanting to do this swap but have been told several times the 200 won't survive behind even the mildest 350 without having it professionally built. The best man for the job charges over $4k to build it but guarantees it won't fail.
The plan I've decided on is to pull all of the pistons, give the cylinders a quick hone, clean and inspect the pistons, and reinstall with the original pistons and rings if they aren't damaged.
It's an ex imca 602 crate engine
Finished its last race in the top 5 even with that hole in the valve. I'm guessing something from the carburetor came loose and went through the engine.
I'm installing a 480 lift cam that was suggested by a few different Vortec guys and will be keeping the...
I am in the same situation right now and would really like the overdrive in my 79 Z28. I'm installing an imca "602" crate engine with a bigger cam, essentially the same engine you have. I wish the 200r4 didn't sound like such a pain in the ass to set up correctly. It's pushing me towards keeping...
So I started out a few months ago with what should have been a weekend project changing the intake manifold and carburetor on my 79. I found the heads had been leaking oil past the seals. And the valves looked a little beat. So I pulled the heads. Found the bores looked glazed, and pistons...
I would agree. I think I still did just fine. They are in pretty nice condition overal. Just wish they had the baffles in them. It appears based on the numbers in them that they are in fact 1970 valve covers. So I think I'll just let the baffle issue go. I got my money's worth.
Guys I picked these up the other day along with an original 302 air filter assembly. As with most stuff I seem to buy online as of late the sellers seem to take very directed images to keep the flaws from being questioned. But these go a bit farther than that. They almost look fake. Look at the...
I'm also curious how this turned out. As fiber concepts now own the original molds used by Legendary Glass to produce the parts Joel Rosen used on his infamous motion cars. I've seen some pretty poor fitting fiberglass hoods produced by some of the most popular brands but that's a pretty...
I snatched up the 67 Z28 heads because they date matched and I felt like they needed to be saved All the others he threw in the back of his truck and hauled to the dump. :(
I don't know what's more sad The fact they aren't worth anything so it won't be long and you won't be able to get any even if you needed them. Or the fact that I used to be so in tune with this stuff and didn't know how the value had dropped out of them, kinda hurts the ego a bit. Lol
A local guy has several sets for sale he just wants the room and just wants a fair offer. Most are 327 corvette heads but there's 2 sets of 1967 Z28 302 heads in there too. Just want to give the guy an offer that's fair for both parties. Just say price per head.
Mainly body and trim parts. This is for a friend. He needs rear window trim and the trim running down the mid line of the quarter panel at the very least.
