Here is the casting date. Looks like 75. After starting to clean this engine up the block is orange under the blue then black paint.
Thanks for the interest.
Yesterday I picked up a crusty 454 and its a 361959 casting. So 73 to 85 454 car or truck.
Then we went to the pad where suffix codes are stamped and found T61520198.
Couldn't find any info about this engine from that. My question is what do I have. We came up with a few suggestions but...
I am putting custom gauges in my 1980 and was wondering if anyone knows if you can get a female plug that plugs into the stock gauge pod connector. I don't want to cut my wiring harness to wire in these new gauges. Thanks.
I know its a little late but I ended up using the info in the link above to get my neutral safety switch working. Spliced into the purple wire and its working now. I didn't have to change the steering column a was suggested. I hope this info helps someone else. Thanks again
While doing more research I came across this thread and I think I can adapt it to my issue.

Thanks for all the info. I have been working on the other parts of the 4 speed swap and haven't looked at it since. But I am at the point of trying to find the wires under the dash. If I cant find them I will have to splice it on the engine side of the firewall, not ideal but it will work. I...
It has a rear window defroster that still works. So I guess I will have to find someone with an 80 four speed car to find out what the deal is on the Neutral safety switch. I had the same problem when it came to the oil pressure switch cant seam to find the proper info to repair that circuit...
So I found this purple wire under the dash one end go's behind the fuse panel and the other end goes into a taped wiring harness above the steering column. If this is the neutral safety circuit then I can unplug it and wire it into the neutral safety switch. I have access to several other...
I will have to go in under the dash again and take a look. I have a super T10 that I am putting in the car. I just wish I had a wiring diagram or someone who has done this swap in a 80 so I wasn't guessing what wires to use. Thanks for your input.
There are no other wires on the switch on the bottom of the steering column. I looked at my sons 79 and I can see the terminals that the plug goes into but my 80 doesn't even have the terminals sticking out of the switch. So I wonder where the neutral safety switch is on a 1980. I have wiring...
So I was under the dash this afternoon and these are the only wires on the switch at the bottom of the steering column. A pink one with a black line and the green one. This connector won't fit on the manual neutral safety switch.
Ok thanks I will look again at the switch at the bottom of the steering column. I am old so its hard to get under there to see what is going on even with the seat out. HaHa.
I have a question about the netural safety switch on a 1980. I am doing a auto to manual swap and was wondering if someone can point me in the right direction. I have a wiring diagram for a 1978 and it appears that the wire colors or location are different than what I have. I can't find the...
So the first thing to take care of was the brakes. New front rotors and pads and bearing, new wheel cylinders, shoes and spring kit for the rear. New Monro shocks all round. Had the trubo 350 trans with a shift kit serviced. Also the car never ran properly so we found that the distributor was...
Hello been a member here since 2012 and enjoyed looking at all the builds. I thought I would share my 1980 with the membership. A little history about my automotive journey. Back in 1980 I had a 1977 LT with the usual mods like jacked up with air shocks and 50's sticking out the back...
Yes I have engaged the reverse shifter. I have taken the tailhousing off and removed the reverse thrust washer, put the tailhousing on again and the trans spins freely so I will try and measure the gap left by the washer and see what I have. I don't have a lot of time to work on it right now so...
Copo thanks for doing your trans rebuild write up. I read it and nothing jumps out at me as to why my trans is binding up when I put the tailhousing on. I know it has something to do with a clearance issue on the reverse idler gear assembly. I have all the original reverse idler gear parts back...
So I am rebuilding a super T10 transmission for my auto to 4 speed conversion in my 1980 Camaro. The problem I have is when I install the tailhousing the input shaft is almost imposible to turn. I have determined that the problem seems to be with the reverse gear assembly. When the bolts to the...
