most 6x9s wont fit on top flush because of the cage of the speaker. I didnt want to cut up my package tray, and I didnt have flush mount speaker covers. I dont hate this, but I would have preferred to fush mount speakers under the package tray, and then have more of clean look to the top. I...
no telling....I bought the car 30-ish years ago from the original owner. He hadn't done much to the car, it was untouched, besides the front seats. Luckily he threw in the original seats with the purchase. :)
now im curious...had to go digging on my pictures, but here is carpet in the rear. Im pretty sure that the carpet had never been replaced and the rear seats have never been removed. There is an overlay on the rear hump, but it looks like carpet to me, but its kinda hard to tell from the picture.
I bought the wrong carpet from OC Auto Carpets, and because they said it was a "custom" order, they wouldn't send me the correct carpet. So I just installed it. It did not have the tail piece. but what's weird, is my original green carpet didn't have it either. Im thinking this was an option.
Also went ahead and put in rear seats, and seatbelts.
Had a hard time putting seatbelts in, the carpet wasn't laid down right and is going to bug the poo out of me. I have a feeling ill be ordering another carpet , I trimmed too much off the driver's side and it doesn't sit right. It's lumpy...
Went ahead and covered package tray area, guessing this stuff is good for everywhere.
Traced underside of package tray cover, and cut speaker holes put. The cuts looked terrible, I was using a razor blade and could not get a good positive cut, if that makes sense. The cardboard was flimsy...
Got a few more things done.
My interior hardware kit says these are sail panel screws, my old screws were either waaay off, or something is amiss. I ended up using some black leftover screws from dash install.
Got my headliner trim piece on, and pillar cover
Sized up the sail panels, I...
In today's episode of chinesium, the little rs nose bumper
1. Studs are mounted slightly off center
2. Nuts won't go into center piece holes, too big.
3. Not sure if its supposed to be flat on both ends, one I took off is tapered.
he came back and steamed it. Seemed to help a lot.
He also brought back 1 set of visors, he still has my other set. I dont 100% like the way he did the visors, the stitches were slightly crooked , and there was no border. Its kinda hard to see unless you are looking for it.
to prep for headliner installation, I had to dig through my baggies of screws, and try to find the originals. I bought a complete interior hardware kit, which im finding out a lot of the hardware doesn't match up to the factory stuff.
Here you can see the factory visor screws are way shorter...
Did a little bit of painting with SEM to change green to black.
and then hit this inner sail panel cover with POR, it wasnt painted from the factry, but it has some surface rust, so I hit it with some sandpaper and then POR 15 to protect it.
