Tremec 5 sp install, can a 70 shifter be retained?

It's just skewed a bit because I didn't want to hammer in the front/right corner of the drivers seat pan. There's enough slop/slots in the various parts to make it work. This is a specific design that American Powertrain uses. A kit from Modern Drivelines would likely be different. I'm...

Tremec 5 sp install, can a 70 shifter be retained?

Yes...mine is a '70. I did minor mods to tunnel only. I made the crossmember fit well enough without caving in the floor pan.

Tremec 5 sp install, can a 70 shifter be retained?

You will need a new driveshaft. It was part of the deal from American PowerTrain.

Tremec 5 sp install, can a 70 shifter be retained?

I don't have an answer about the shifter...but, I did have to make slight mods to the tunnel opening. It was already mangled by the previous owner, so no big deal. Also, the cross member (American PowerTrain) is supposed to be made to fit. However, I had a tough time and it does not fit that...

    TKO upgrade $$$$

When I acquired my '70 RS, it had a Saginaw and 3.90 rear. I barely used 1st gear! Highways were not comfortable. I kept the rear gears and installed a TKX. Very happy with the results. Was fairly easy to install. I did have to cut some of the tunnel but it was already mangled by the prev...

    1988-1998, GMT400, Chevrolet/GMC Truck Prices

When my Z71 was a daily driver, I would get lots of looks. Mine looks worse than the picture above also, but I can still look at it sitting in the yard and appreciate how cool they are. KD...is yours a lowered 4wd?

    1988-1998, GMT400, Chevrolet/GMC Truck Prices

Been watching prices also. I have been sitting on this '93 for a few years. It's a 5 speed manual. After I update the paint and interior, I am hoping to get about $15k. This body style has held onto value a little more than trucks in general. Seems that during Covid, truck prices sky...

Thanks for the tip! I'm going up there on the Friday for preview day. I hope to learn a lot then and do my best to know exactly what I am bidding on. I thinks it going to be fun.

I've never been to something like this....but I'm going! Long list of needs for Camaro and Impala. Definitely want to get a Big Block for the Impala. I don't want to deal with "lots", so might be a wasted trip.

    Decent stereo setup

Hi Biker... Have you considered using just a Bluetooth DAC/amplifier ? Unless you want to play CD's, and/or need full "hands free" calling, streaming from your phone is a great option. This is the unit I put in my car. Placed in the trunk, its short wires to the package tray 6x9's. Has...

    Home electrical question

very little price difference so it's kind of a moot point...my bad 🥴. All the major mfgs have the same stuff.

It's a dedicated circuit drawing only 5.5 amps.

USB Charger in place of the cigarette lighter

I had a random hole in the dash from the prev owner, so I enlarged it a bit and installed a USB port. Since the radio opening was also mangled, I did my own radio delete panel. The one Twisted pointed to was similar to the one I used in my MGA. I modified an original (broken) 2" gauge and...

    Home electrical question

What everyone has said is good info. Wire AWG is rated by Amps. You will be well under the 20A rating for 12awg. And all building wire is rated at 600V. A double pole breaker....you only need a 10amp...and proper marking of two hot leads. I assume you have an open double space in your panel.

    Why So Many Shims?

Summit branded SUM-770210 and UMI Performance 3050F lowering springs. I hope trying to save $150 over the QA1 option doesn't come back and bite me in the ass. I had to go deep into Summit TechSupport to get confirmation that these uppers have about 2deg positive caster built in. We'll see!!!

    Why So Many Shims?

Status report.... Subframe is back as it should be. I had one bushing sleeve incorrect when I installed it and one that got cocked and pushed the capture nut up! Fixed all that. Discovered that the CPP upper arms have zero positive caster built in 🤨. I struggle to understand why the P/O would...
