Thanks, I have about a quarter inch between the #6 tube and the box. The previous owner apparently had a bad motor mount at one time because there is a fiberglass repair where the exhaust manifold was hitting it.
Since the front body pieces have not been installed after the frame off, I think I...
I know this is a "somewhat" old thread...It looks like you and I have the same ceramic coated Hedman headers. How much space do you have between the #6 tube and the A/C box?
This issue has been resolved. As TM said, the 79-81 A/C unit has 5 lines. The lines I had were from a 1978 Camaro, which has 6 lines. I found the correct ones from a 1979 Camaro at a local PYP.
A suggestion: Always keep a copy of any executive orders that apply to changes you have made to the car. The EO for your carb can be found here: http://ww2.arb.ca.gov/sites/default/files/classic/msprog/aftermkt/devices/eo/d-215-10.pdf. I would file it in a car registration file (along with...
This is starting to shed some light on the mystery. The car came in boxes so who know what parts are from what year, I just sold some 80 fender vents and rear wheel spoilers that were mixed in with the myriad of other parts. The diagram above shows a two port defrost diaphragm with a blue line...

I need some help with the duct control vacuum lines for a 1979 Camaro with A/C. When people remove the A/C from these cars, they typically cut 3 lines. One goes to the fresh air intake diaphragm in the cowl, the second goes to the vacuum supply connected to the vacuum canister and there is a...
I am sorry for just getting to this. For some reason notifications aren't/weren't working.
Besides what is in the picture, you need the foil like hose that is about an inch and a half in diameter that connects to the exhaust manifold and runs to the bottom of the air cleaner "horn".
From a smog perspective, the important part of the air cleaner is that you have the heat pipe or stove pipe in place (the foil hose thing that runs from the exhaust manifold to the bottom side of that horn thing on the intake). You also need to make sure that the vacuum lines are run from the...
Thanks John. Trying to get the seat covers right is proving to be a big challenge. I will try an upholstery shop and see if they can match the fronts. I am not sure if they are original, but they are in very good shape.
Before you replace the intake, what is wrong with the one you have? I haven't heard you mention it. There are a couple of California legal intakes out there. I would hate for you to go through that much trouble when you do not need to. I suspect that if you have an EGR port you probably have...
Yeah, engine swaps are a mess. Fortunately "most" smog techs don't know the difference between 305, 350, and 383. Likely those who do worry more about emissions output than what is under the hood.
That being said, GM sells CARB approved (with their own EO number) engine swaps. You could swap...
I am trying to figure out what the original rear seat cover looked like for my car. It is a 1979 Z28 with the Black Cloth standard interior (19B). Was the rear seat on the cloth standard interior all vinyl?
