Wasn't there a few prototype 70 Camaros made that were never sold?

BTW, !970 Camaro with VIN 124879L500001 has a trim tag stamped "BL 08105" and "02D 587986 270641" (4th week Feb., actually Feb. 27, 1970) according to what I have seen on the web.

1970 Camaro with VIN 124870L500030 has a trim tag stamped "BL 00042" and "01A 396035 061020" (1st week Jan. 1970, actually Jan. 06, 1970) which seems normal.

For who ever is crunching the numbers the official plant production record for Norwood lists a total of 105,597 Camaros in 1970 Calendar year and 92,248 for the model year :bowtie:

That would mean there were 13,349 1971 Camaros made in 1970.

1970's: 92,248 / 7.25 months = 12,724/month (avg.)
1971's: 13,349 / (4.75 - 2.25 months) = 5,340/month (avg.)
Strike from Sept. 14, 1970 to Nov. 23, 1970 or about 2 1/4 months

I guess the strike really affected production.

O8A should be the last week for 1970 production. His VIN 591698 is close to the end of production. The last Norwood car that year had VIN 592248, so 550 more cars were built after this one.

My early 71SS is 08C with a vin of N502145 if that helps any.

i never worked in august . my b day is 8/3 , and i never worked in 8 .i cant say it didn't happen , BUT it happened here . there was always a clear and definitive " build out " it would start with gaps in the line and the gaps would grow . finally i would look at an empty line coming at me and your foreman would tell you at the beginning of the shift the # of the last car .

If your car was made two weeks earlier it would be a 1970. Since it is a very early 1971 are there any "1970 only" parts on it like the seats or steering wheel?

Hi Dave. Mine came with a 71 only (I believe) Jade Green interior. The steering wheel and seats were not the 70 style. This was the day I got the car. It was in poor shape but all original:
