I am finishing up my GEN 6 BBC build. First time working with a GEN 6.

I got a Fel Pro One Piece Rear Main Seal for it. It appears to be two seals, one inside the other. The package listed an installation tool , which seems to not be available any longer.

Can anyone help with the install? Which way does the seal go? Any tips on getting it in without damaging the seal? They are kinda pricey!

    Pics would be great!

Web search was not very helpful.

My gen VI one piece seal was one piece, thats it.No special tool needed..
It pushes in with your fingers, after pan is installed.
Did you get the felpro Viton seal?
    Sounds like somethings wrong.
You didn't get a conversion seal for a one piece did you?
Ill try to find a pic of mine.(circa 2009 gen 6 454 crate motor)

I use to install these type seals on the 8.1 BBC. Also had the special tool to install to prevent warping the pricey seal.

I'll get pics and part number later today.

It is a felpro, and was what came up at the parts store.

    Not a conversion.

But it has a smaller seal that fits inside the larger, if that makes sense.

You must be working on an 8.1L.

It's a 454, but I think the double seal seems to be for the 8.1

Yep, that would be your problem. Exchange it for a gen5/6 B/B one piece seal.
