i just got a set of aftermarket z06 rims.they are 17x9.5 rims. has anyone tried to run this size rim on their second gen camaro with stock steering and suspension parts?

it'll be a squeeze for the front but they fit perfect under my 70 in the rear with a 285/40.

did you have to use spacers?

no spacers on mine. 17x9.5 with 5.5" of back spacing. Fits perfect.

^^^ Stock vette wheels have 5.5" backspace? That doesn't look like a Z06 wheel.

Nope, to get the good geometry GM moved the spindle pivots outboard. My wife's '78 has 2 1/4" (I think) spacers at all 4 corners to fit C4 Z51 16x8.5 & 16x9.5 wheels, they have 6 & 6.2" backspacing. Stock sheetmetal, aftermarket springs, doesn't sit as low as I'd like but it doesn't rub.
17x9.5 C4 wheels have 7.4 backspacing.
