"Thanks for the advice up front",

I have a scratch at the 10mph mark. I cant remember all the steps to remove the dash bezel without breaking it? I have a tilt steering column & was hoping i could move the dash bezel out of the way or do i need to remove the lower dash ac assembly and drop the steering column? I decided to buy the lens assembly front case part complete with the lens already attached instead of the clear lens by itself so its all 1 piece hoping to just uncrew the small screws around than pop the entire front assembly on that already has the lens attached if there's enough room to move the bezel out of the way.

The lens is held with little plastic “tits” which are melted flat to hold the lens in place.

Those will need to be drilled out to remove the lens.

There are extra ones which can be used to hold a new lens.

Personally… I would remove the bezel and sand/polish out the scratch in the lens.

Very fine sandpaper (1000 & 2000 grit) followed by Plast-X polishing compound does a real good job of removing scratches.

I would take the whole cluster out to do it whether you polish it or replace it.

Seems like I just loosen the bolts holding up the column and get enough clearance to pull the cluster out. A small scratch can be taken out and a good polish make the lens look new. A deeper scratch would have me replacing the lens too.

Please note , i just want to unscrew and pop this front piece on because it already has the lens attached and is just a few screws around the sides.

I just reread your post.

Your plan should be doable.
The trickiest part of the job is usually the headlight switch.

I don't know if a 70 has the two hidden screws by the steering column like my 78 did.
If the bezel doesn't want to come out after removing the visible screws, you will need to access those two from the underside.

When you reassemble... Turn the screws backwards, until the threads click into place, to prevent stripping the holes when you tighten them.

I would have a hard time leaving the original bulbs in it.
Replacing them with LEDs (while you're at it) is a big improvement and that's kind of tough to do unless you pull the whole cluster out.
