1970 Camaro Gas Tank Date Code

Happy Hump Day Bowtie Fans!

I‘ve been on the hunt for an original 1970 Camaro gas tank. I found this one, please see pics, however where the date stamp should be, I only found two numbers 17? Would anyone have any thoughts on this date code? Thanks!

The "17" is likely the week of mfgr which would likely be early-to-mid April. These two digits are followed by the 2-digit stamped year. in your case, might be just a light stamping and you'll need to clean better and look closer. Here's an example of a '70 Camaro fuel tank stamp for reference:

I've also seen letter code stamps as this one B 70 February 1970. This is from a 03C L78 vanuys car it is possible its a number 8 for eith week wich aligns well with the car

If you clean further next to the 17 I believe you will ffind the year stamp. I can see a partial of it in the picture you posted.
