1970 Camaro Restofy

got a few things done over the weekend. Not getting much time on Camaro...such is life.

Attached the lower part of the dash. I got some "chrome" paint, I dont really like the way it looks, but not sure I want to go back and try to fix it. The silver looks...O.K. Ganna go look at it over the next week and see if it bothers me enough to fix it. Wife has some chrome vinyl I thought about cutting and wrapping the vents.

Also did the Velcro trick on the vent, worked great!

I have some alignment issues with lower dash like others have had with NPD dashes.

Pretty sure I saw someone here say they had a fix for the vent slats, typical floppy

I sent my vents out to be restored. The look and work great but not sure I would recommend doing that unless you are going for a high end restoration. Cost about $400.00 and took around 6 months to get them back. But like I said they look and work great.

Do you know how they fixed them? I can't tell if it's missing something or a bad design. I see the little metal clip on the right side, is it supposed to have one on each side?

I don't really know what they did, but it took 3 vents for them to get me 2 good ones. One was really mucked up and was flopping big time (the links were junk I suspect). I probably would have used the vent I rescued from the salvage yard without the rebuild but still the brightwork needed freshening. Of course the 70 vents are unique so no inter year or model substitutions. Anyway whatever they did looks good but was hard to justify the cost for the part, except if you are going for 100 points on your Z or SS car (I wouldn't spend it for a driver, but I guess I did).

So neighbor came over, was leaning on my car, which drives me nuts that people do that, but I didnt say anything since the car is in primer, and there was really nothing he could hurt. Well when i wasnt looking he leaned on my 1 piece spoiler, which wasnt mounted to the trunk lid, it was just sitting in holes. He hit it just right and the spoiler flipped off and hit the floor. Cracked in a couple places. and one of the studs came out. I was soo pissed, he apologized and offered to buy a new spoiler. I said I would try to fix it first, its fiberglass. So will see how this goes. if it doesnt repair, Ill get him to buy another. What sucks is this is an original 70 spoiler, that was in excellent shape.

I used 3m panel bond, this epoxy is the best ive seen and pretty much sticks to anything

You need new neighbors! Oh, and I rebuilt my original vents. It wasn't that hard and there are several refinishing paints available.

did you rebuild the flapper piece? mine is too flappy. I thought about putting a bit of black silicon to freeze the vents in a certain location, then I could use the vent close lever if I ever wanted to close off vent.

not crazy about the guy! Anyone who leans on cars, is a red flag in my book! If the car were painted, I would have freaked.
