got a little work done over the weekend.

I highly recommend Richard to rebuild a stock radio, he does great work. https://www.randbvintageradio.com/

Installed radio, and tested.

I had test fitted the dash before, and one of the studs pulled right out of the NPD dash. I mixed up some epoxy and glued it back in. I decided not to use that stud, as I dont think it has enough to hold onto.

I bought a clip set a while back with the dash. I used 4 of the 5. decided to use the factory short clip on the far passenger side. The factory ones are slightly thicker anyways.

I also drilled these holes, this is pretty crazy. I dont understand why they couldn't have these drilled from manufacturer

I got dash on , but made a few measurement errors on the Vintage Air vent hoses. The center vent tubes and the drivers side pod was a little too short, I had to stretch them more than I wanted. The passenger side vent hose was too long. Unfortunately it was the first one I connected.

I used this cloth tape to seal all the ducts. Also gives me some insurance the hoses wont pull off. Thanks to

this is center duct. All I can say is that it was a major PITA to get these vent hoses on, had to do with 1 hand. Part of the issue was when I put the vintage air adaptor on the back of the vent, it wouldnt come back off. It snapped on and would have taken some persuasion to get back off. The vent hoses would have been way easier to put on if I pulled them through the dash and secured to vent through the dash, then pushed the center vent back in after they were connected. I was able to get zip ties on them, but no tape.

added vintage air plastic tube connectors, and taped.

I ran into space issues with my dakota digital mounting plate. I couldnt fit the drivers side vent tube with the metal plate in place. I had to remove the metal plate. Now I have to come up with a mounting solution for the boxes. I thought I was being slick with the plate, but vintage air decided not to let me. people have said this before, but you run out of room pretty fast when you put tubes in.

I will try to finish it up this week, once I get everything lined up, will go back in and tighten up mounts. I really hope I dont need to remove this again. The gaps on both ends of the dash are more than I expected, hopefully that pillar cover takes up some of that space.

its really rare I see something in a post I have not seen on a 2nd gen. Been building owning and enjoying them for like over 35 years now. 1 I have never seen that mount on the side of stock radio. Did not know they used the radio for a dash support. 2nd putting the new style radio in a stock one is clever and I have never seen that done. That is slick. Great post Giggity.
ive heard that little bracket is pretty hard to find. I think the bracket just holds the rear of the radio up so its not putting stress on the front.

got the drivers side AC pod in and duct connected. there was no way I could mount the Dakota digital controller anywhere without extending some wiring. Not sure if Im going to mess with it, its accessible behind the Dakota Digital dash, so it may just live there. still a lot to do.

the NPD dash didnt have any places to screw in the bezel, just holes. not really sure how to mount the bezel. I need to dig around the forum and see if I can find a solution.

I looked into buying a new drivers side vent, but it doesnt have the shut off valve. I think im just going to put a little bit of glue to hold the flappy vent, I dont mess with these things once they are set. Also need to come back and paint the chrome. Wanted to do this outside the car, but I can tape it off and hand paint it.

I used foam tape behind my vents to tighten up the fins, worked well.
Mounted my Dakota box behind the gauge cluster as well, seems like several people are doing that
Dash looks very nice 👍

getting ready to put the door panels together, I need to paint the upper door panels black. I guess I didnt know that the window felt was pop riveted to the plastic. Has anyone taken these off? Or should I just tape up and paint? buy new ones?

I haven't found ones that I like yet. So if the originals are still good either carefully remove them or tape around the. If somebody has found nice fitting felts let us know.
