carb date compared to cowl tag date. My 70 needs a 4489. the cowl tag is 06D. I have found a carb dated 061. Would that be appropriate/normal for the car build date? Anyone have experience? I assume the two dates wouldn't match exactly since the carb would have to be made and in inventory during assembly.

Just an example, my 04B car has a 023 carb. From what I have seen typically 1 to 2 months ahead. A bit different at model start-up as parts are made and inventoried earlier. They didn't practice strict FIFO and JIT like they do now, so sometimes things were not in perfect order, but IMHO your carb is on the late side but possible.
