I am looking for some help on hood stripes for my 02D assy date Van Nuys Z28. Does anyone have dimensions, pictures etc. on when they stopped painting cars with the short stripes?
I am starting to prepare for getting my car painted and I want it to be as correct as possible. I know there were feb van nuys cars painted with stripes that stopped short of windshield edge of hood.I have an original trunk lid so I am good with that info. I know the assy manual covers Norwood cars.
Please keep info to early 70van nuys cars. Thanks in advance!!

PLEASE, whichever length you decide on the stripes, space them the same, front and rear, don't spread the rear stripes apart as so many people do! If you look at old literature, the rally stripes are spaced the same front and rear on first gen and second gen Camaros. You'll see this in original literature listed for sale on eBay or other sites. I have seen so many first gen cars with the rear stripes spaced approximately twice the distance apart as the front stripes, looks ridiculous! I am attaching examples of the information I found...

2nd gen front stripes are wider at the window end so front and rear are not the same.

Thanks for info. I have a deck lid that is original paint to go on car. It came off a van Nuys car as the stripes match Charlie’s 1100 mile z28. I am laying out hood with painters tape to verify numbers based off his pictures. Looks like there is a slight taper to center line dimension from what I can tell at windshield the main stripe spacing is 6.375 and at the front Camaro emblem off his picture it works out to 5.560
Probably just assy line variation I would guess but definitely different from assy manual to van Nuys on both front and rear

I can’t believe it. My original motor and tranny gone but retains its original 12 bolt 3.73 coz Posi and the other goodies. That will change my hood plans now!!.
Could you tell me some dimensions?? It would be a huge help.pictures and or numbers
I’m looking for edge of hood at windshield to start of stripe
Centerline main spacing
Main stripe width at top and at bottom of hood
I would love pictures of your hood. If you want you could send thru this site or
