This is my May '70 Camaro. Originally Camaro Gold with black racing stripes. It's still got the original paint underneath but has been repainted silver, blue, and satin black over the years. Therefore, I will be taking it back to bare metal and repainting it. I am rebuilding the whole car, but and bolt and refurbishing everything. It was imported into the UK in 2003. Prior to this it was converted to Prostreet in the States - hi-performance 445 cu.in. 4 bolt main with performance big valve cast heads. 8/71 Supercharger from The Blower Shop with twin 750cfm double pumper Holleys, twin Holley Blue top fuel pumps, 12 gallon Fuel cell in the boot, Long tube headers with electric cutouts. Custom made BeCool alloy radiator with twin Spal cooling fans. Th400 trans with mods to take upto 2000hp. Back halved Tubbed with Ladder bars and coilovers. Narrowed 9inch Ford axle with LSD. All steel car except the bonnet which is glassfibre. Interior is Dynamatted, two bucket seats, 4 point harnesses, Autometer gauges, B&M ratchet shifter, removable Momo steering wheel. Fully caged even through to the boot. Battery in boot. It's also got Nitrous kit which adds 300bhp. I am by the last owner it ran 9's quarters.

I did this a couple of weeks ago. Interior stripped out, dynamat removed (I got 25 paper cuts pulling that off the floor), the hard old seam sealer removed, paint sanded down to bare metal, any old drill holes I welded in. Then painted with 2K epoxy primer. Very solid ex California car. The original red oxide was still under the black, there was no sign of any previous repairs, and I found no rust whatsoever.

I've smoothed the firewall and relocated the wiper motor to under the wing, which is the hole on the right.

Front chassis: I bought a Draper needle scaler to remove the old paint from the chassis and an award winning sandblaster from Millers Sand Blasting to remove anything left over. I sprayed it with 2 coats of E121 epoxy black rust proofing paint with a 1.8 gun from Rust.co.uk which from the reviews I read, is the best stuff you can get.

I have sand blasted the floor pan and the central chassis. I tidied up some welds with welder and grinder, seam sealed them and some other panel joins, then sprayed two coats of black EM121 epoxy chassis paint.
