Hello all,

Just brought this 1970 Z28 RS back to life after rescuing it from a parking garage where it had been sitting 35 years. All numbers matching other than a CE block. 4 speed M21 with 3:73. Rust free car with one repaint over the factory Daytona yellow!

Now that it is running and driving I need to replace the exhaust. I would like a very authentic looking correct system but for obvious reasons I do not need concourse type correct. What do you all recommend for this car, I have heard good things about Gardener, Joeys and Classic industries.

Thank you!

Can’t go wrong with Joey Greys system, here’s mine for my 73Z I got from him, great guy to deal with.

Thank you, I called him today just waiting for a quote and lead time.

Has anyone used the one from Classic Industries lately?

I know Gardeners is the best but price point seems unrealistic for this car after getting the quote from Eric.

I bought a header back transverse system from Summit that is currently $277. Thrush 89021. The pipes fit ok but did require some clearances and tweaking. The biggest hangup I had was modifying the supplied mounts for the muffler. It was a minor pain but did get done. The tailpipes are too long so you can cut the ends how you like. All in all I was satisfied with the sound and fit for the price. The H pipe really enhanced the lope of the cam. That's what I assumed anyway...

probably A better project than my 70 Z project! I’m 10 years into a similar car that has been off the road since 1978! Also a CE block, turbo 400 3.73 car. Forest green, green int, black vinyl roof. I’m going with Joey when I get the engine back from Merkel Racing Engines after my original engine builder (since 1979) passed away! RIP Ric Deschner!

I know somebody that has both a Gardner and Joey system in his Camaro's. He swears by the Gardner system, much quieter but still a stout sound. He says you can tap on the original style muffler and hear the difference in quality of material. I realize price difference may not warrant such scrutiny.

Joey's is louder than stock. I’m using a Walker crossflow in my 70 Z28 that was installed in the 80’s.

No headers.
