1971 Camaro full bumper corner bolts?

Are the top bolt holes on the far end right at the corners require different bolts to tighten? The top bumper bolts used on the straight part won't tighten down flat on the corner bend and are loose. Smaller bolts, different washers required?

Bumper bolts are just the bumper bolt and a nut. Do you have pics? It’s possible you have repop bumper brackets and the holes are off

Just bought it, its in great shape, took off the big '73 center bumper guards, looking for bolts to also cover up those smaller round (not square like the other) holes, but this is the corner holes in question as the bolts I just bought won't tighten firmly.

Well,if for some reason,the threads are longer than they should be,you can put a washer underneath to eat up some threads.

Do you have a pic of the bracket? I agree, if the bumper is too thin, you’ll run out of thread and won’t be tight. If the holes are off, then it won’t tighten down straight and the head won’t sit flush with the bumper.

Just a tip. To keep the bumper bolt from deforming the bumper I always put a washer big enough to fit over the square part of the bumper bolt and put it between the bumper and the bumper bracket.

What does that do? I don’t see how that prevents you from over tightening? Plus if you put a washer on top of the bracket, you will affect the bumpers alignment.

Most if not all after market bumpers are a bit thinner than stock. So if you add a washer that the increases the pressure area as you tighten the bolt the less chance it will deform the area around the out side of bumper bolt. You will still have full adjustment of the bumper bracket for bumper alignment.
Just thinking about this a bit more you might have to bend the washer to fit the contour of the inside of the bumper? On my 73 Camaro hot rod project I just don't remember.

I see, I don’t have too much experience with repop bumpers, but the AMD is thick. Thicker than OE for sure.
