My 71 RS Z28 pretty much all original with no right side mirror and 3 piece tall spoiler
Is this car a paint code 53 car?
I'm of the opinion a 71 code 53 is a different color than 72 code 53.
It’s the code 53 Placer Gold
Absolutely beautiful! Does it have a chrome mirror or racing mirror on the driver's side?
I know that the sport mirror option was driver side only for the base Camaro sport coupe, but I thought it was both sides for the Z28 and SS packages. I don't think I have ever seen a Z28 with one sport mirror before this thread. Plenty of sport coupes, but not Z28s. I've seen Z28s with either 1 chrome mirror or 2 sport mirrors. And this is only '70 and '71 models. I suspect that by '72 or maybe '73, the dual sport mirrors were standard with the Z28 package. And at some point, maybe '73 or '74, the sport mirror option became both sides for the base Camaro sport coupe as well.
It has the remote control painted sport mirror
Most interesting. My Canadian documents show that both left hand remote and right hand non remote sport mirrors came with RPO z28 in '74. However, oddly, that same documentation states that the rear spoiler came with the Z28 option, however, this car does not have one.
Page 8 Looks like the RH mirror was an accessory in 71 and not STD equipment on the Z28 as it was for 1970.
Wow, you have a beautiful car. And it's probably the closest to mine I've seen but in far better condition. I got mine with 42kmi back in '83 (2nd owner) and it now has about 70kmi. It's a '71, RS Z28, M22 4spd, deluxe saddle interior and also Placer Gold. The original owner did do a repaint but I've never known why. I have always wondered about it not having a passenger side mirror. There's zero evidence of ever being one or that the door has been changed. It also has body side moldings but I think that was a dealer installed option (maybe?). Haven't found the build sheet but still hopeful as the tank hasn't been down. Here's a couple of pics from the Dragon a few years back..
