1972 LS3 Exhaust Manifold Date Codes

Good Morning Bowtie SME's!

I was recently blessed to find an original 1972 Camaro SS 396 in PA. Yes she a little rough, but all original, minus the exhaust manifolds and air cleaner (imagine that...). With that, I am searching for date code correct exhaust manifolds (I have a WTB thread started in the Swap Meet Section); 3989310 & 3989343. The LS3 VIN is 157318, so from what I have determined she was built between December 1971 and January 1972. My question is, given the Dec-Jan build, what date code ranges would be correct for this restoration? Any assistance is greatly appreciated! Happy Holidays!

I would start with what the build date of the engine block is stamped with…also Expand your search to different models …more than likely used the same manifolds

Colvin's book says those manifolds were used on 1971/1972 Passenger Car 402/454, Chevelle 402/454, Monte Carlo 402/454, GMC Sprint 402/454, and Camaro 402.

To expand on Rick's comment, exhaust manifolds for big blocks were installed at the engine plant. Therefore, predating the engine assembly is more accurate than predating the car's build date.

These are off of a CTB coded 1972 Camaro which designates A.I.R (smog). Already blasted and painted with VHT high heat paint. Ready to bolt on!
