1972 Z28 engine?

It appears the last Camaro for '72 was 168650.

So does the 16J20095 number supersede the V0120CKt number? I cannot check the casting number right as the car is not currently located at my house. In my search for answers I am more confused, would the stamp that says CKT been a forgery? When I bought the car that was never a topic of discussion. Will the casting number be the tell all? I really just need to know as I have my eye on a true 72 Z four speed car without a engine. I would hate to sell this one and then have to go find a replacement.

With all the other mods on the 70 having that engine or any other mild built 350 would have no real effect on the car's value I think. If it is an OE 72 Z engine and can be verified I'd sure yank it.
I am not worried about the value of the 70, I am eyeballing a 72 z roller and would think having the correct engine would really help the value of that car. Hate to get rid of this engine without all the correct data.

I was only commenting on the other poster's comment about how high the VIN number would go. If you're going by VIN numbers, then those numbers must be on the pad on the right side of the engine block behind where the alternator would sit. If they match to the car, then you have your answer. If they do not, then those numbers alone won't likely tell you enough else. Plant and year maybe? (although presumably, if higher than the highest '72 Camaro VIN would be, that would eliminate it being a block from a Camaro)

One number does not supersede the other, they complement one another. The engine code V0120CKT was stamped at the engine assembly plant and the partial VIN 16J20095 was stamped at the car assembly plant. Your codes are in conflict. You need the block casting date which is located to the right of the block casting number to make some sense. I'm no expert but your engine code looks suspect.

The pad does look a bit suspect to me as a whole. The "T" looks out of line and a harder strike, as well as the broach marks are very light.

I would like to see how the other components matchup to the block….here’s a picture of my other 72 Z28 block I have, I’m wondering if you have a warranty replacement block .
