One number does not supersede the other, they complement one another. The engine code V0120CKT was stamped at the engine assembly plant and the partial VIN 16J20095 was stamped at the car assembly plant. Your codes are in conflict. You need the block casting date which is located to the right of the block casting number to make some sense. I'm no expert but your engine code looks suspect.

After blowing up the picture I think the "K" looks like a lighter strike. If it were a "R" it would match the 1976 year but that is just a W.A.G. on my part.

I think it looks suspect as well because the zero after the 2 looks like an o, not a zero an

Here is a wild conspiracy theory. The block was originally built for Camaro in 72 in flint Michigan. Due to strike block wasn’t used in Camaro therefore being repurposed into another vehicle?

Need to see the actual casting date code on the back of the block to narrow this down.

Do you think the cars had motors in them ?
I guess I should have been more specific in my last comment.

No, just the bodies, the others were completed from what I read.
Pages from Echoes of Norwood by Philip Borris Book.

Another example of GM just writing off parts. When I worked in the GM Parts Building in 1973 as a summer student, they would have workers with sledge hammers destroying new parts to get the full cost by writing it off instead of selling it. Items such as chrome bumpers, radios etc. And yes I watched in horror which was close to where I worked. I said to myself, WTF are these guys doing, does Management know? Little did I know at 20 what was going on. Pretty sad.
