Welcome to NastyZ. Looks like it's going to be a fun restoration.

Little word of advise, paint it the colour combo you want....it's your car for you to enjoy, and it does not sound like you are ever going to sell it anyway.....

I have seen owners "keep to the original colour" and regretted it later on, and a complete quality colour change / repaint cost lot's of $$$ these days.

It's funny how tastes change as you get older. I used to think that the Indian motorcycles with the flared fenders were super ugly. I've learned to appreciate the lines and flow now. The original chamois top and paint kinda hits me the same way. I just don't see it much, especially in central Virginia. I definately appreciate your perspective though.

Looking forward to the project. My father retires this year and other than building 2 Harleys together in the late 90s, this will give us another project to complete.

73z28s very hard to find. If “resale value” based on originality is very important then go with original colours. If not, then paint it what you like.

Really hadn't overly considered resale. The car was all original when I bought it as a teenager, just faded and rotted out pretty bad. I've got every piece of original trim from the car when we (I) decided to not go back with the vinyl top (which I always thought was black, but just faded really bad, before I started researching it for this restoration). Something in my gut just tells me to roll with the Chamois on Chamois color and not overthink it. Going to be a long road. I'll definetly post pics as we progress.

And you also have the somewhat more unusual situation of the car originally having a vinyl roof which I myself have never particularly cared for on a 2nd gen. Fine & dandy on a 68 LTD or mopar but not on a 70s Camaro. Just me of course.

Shawn, Have you located this 73 Camaro information listed in the link below?

I sure have. This was one of the first items I came across when I was looking for the 4th line on the cowl tag I was trying to decipher. Appreciate you sharing though. Currently breaking down window trim, bumpers, etc., and ordering some new body parts. As I get further along this journey I will be referencing this muchmore in-depth.

Great info Gary. Much appreciated. I hate asking questions for anything I can find myself, but I beat my head on a screen for 2 days with nothing.
This why this site for second generation Camaro's is the best. Members here are so knowledgeable, and more than generous to help. Again Thankyou to all for the help.
