I just signed up tonight and thought I would share my new to me 1977 Camaro. I drove a base 77 camaro my senior year in high school and have wanted a nice one like it for awhile. It took me a long time to find one but I found one very close to how I would have ordered it if i had purchased it new. bought it from a guy who has owned a restoration shop for over 30 years and usually restores only high end cars. this car was left at his shop after the owner went to prison and the body shop owner bought it from the bank. he restored the body and put a beautiful paint job on the car about 3 years ago but never drove it. it has sat at his shop for over a decade without being driven much. i bought it 3 weeks ago today and have put around 500 miles on it and close to 3k in it. factory 4 speed car, non ac, buckskin metallic paint, black vinyl standard interior, dealer installed t tops, with hardly any options. the main reason i bought it is i have never seen a 77 camaro with t tops and very few with 4 speeds in a base camaro. i have a 79 and a 78 trans am both with t tops, so i like t tops, both without ac. the cam was bad in the car so i put a mild lunati in it, new flowmaster exhaust, new wheels and tires, completed the trunk, got the old kraco stereo to work and added 6x9 rear speakers, fixed several little things, detailed the engine, etc. etc. i plan to keep the car mostly stock and just maintain it from this point on. here are some pics. 77 camaro i had in HS after a repaint and new tires and other things day i got the new 77 at home original engine bay, pretty crusty but all there pretty clean trunk with nice original paint, i just cleaned it, had no spare or jack parts original hurst single t top bag, i added a spare and jack parts and trunk mat interior is very original with new carpet and headliner i need to take more interior photos, i have added seat belt guides and other things. new flows with new pipes from manifolds back, had the catalytic converter still on it fully detailed engine bay, really spent a lot of time here, had a lot of it apart new lunati cam going in, i had to make the swap, carb. was popping, etc. several parts waiting for new paint after being cleaned taken apart ready for cam swap recent photo with new wheels and tires and new exhaust dealer installed t tops, hurst install sticker from 2/77 is still in door jamb my 78 ta, really nice car, i have owned for about 5 years, done lots to it, first place class winner at 2012 nationals my 79 factory 4 speed t top car, one of 2917 made with those two options, just went in for paint lots has happened in the three weeks i have owner the car and i plan to keep it since it is so rare with the t tops, 4 speed, and rare color combo.
Very nice. 350 4 speed. Good find and keep it just how it is. Well except for the little improvements your making. Everyone just threw these cars away and there starting to get scares.
