Now that's some project! Takes some real skill to do that I'm thinking. Just think if that was at $80 an hour just for labor. Has to be a "labor of love." Looking really good at this point though. .

The firewall is in, the old portion of the firewall that contains the provision for AC has to be scabbed in now. The new portion that contains the toe board and torque boxes is in and was the reason it was needed in the first place. It’s been 26 years since I got this car on Christmas and it’s the first time it doesn’t have a hole in the floor.

Has anyone replaced quarter panels? How have you welded the quarter in down by the rocker panel?

Where are you guys sourcing the tension rods for the trunk lid? Are they good quality or should I try and find a used set?

I have the special rivets for the vin tag on order. In the meantime I have the blue spray paint for the dash and vin tag, it is made by the same company that manufacturers the interior dye so hopefully it matches

I can't comment on the other stuff, but the aftermarket tension rods aren't the best. I would find oem ones if possible.

Nice work! I did quarters on my 72. If I remember correctly after I didnt weld them in at the rocker. I couldn't figure a good way to do it like the factor did and it seemed plenty rigid enough to leave it. I considered welding at the seem on the outside and trying to dress it to make it look right but didnt see the purpose. Some others here may have a better answer. Curious myself...

You are brave! That is a ton of work!

Regarding the trunk rods, you may want to use a modern "hood struts". There is a post here somewhere.

Looks guys, parts are going back ON the car!
It is quite a job; I have replaced floors in passenger compartment, and new trunk floor in my 1980Z. Still working on the floors under the rear seats. Just have to keep at it.
