NPD has had the silver Berlinetta inserts available for at least a couple of years now. Are these new ones going to be different in some way?

Those inserts that NPD have come from us.
New ones are different:

Ones Currently available from NPD: This material is matched to 1967 Mustang Deluxe Interior specifications, it is known as a "brushed aluminum". It was a close match for the Berlinetta but I think at the time it was released here, not much was known as far as Camaros and we never advertised it as Berlinetta because it wasn't know that it was specific to that car.
There is nothing wrong with that kit.

Soon to be released silver: This is an entirely different material. Based on a general consensus here, it is a good match to the Berlinetta and that is what we are advertising it as. Also with these kits, when we silk screened the lights/lighter I made them do a perfect match to the font type.

I have not decided yet whether to pull the kits we have now and replace them with this new material, considering we have a lot of them still available.

I hope that clears up some confusion.

I know that you mentioned in another post that you offer just the insert that goes around the radio. What's the price just for that piece?

The radio piece is $35 + shipping. Would be sent by Priority Mail. So $40 Total.
You can get this with or without double sided tape installed on the back.

I removed my old inserts several yrs ago off my 79 Z28 that looked like "brushed aluminum". So I assume that the stock color was not brushed aluminum for a 79? And the "correct" color is light brown like the ones that are being offered here?? Maybe I had a Berlinetta piece by mistake?

Any update on the 81 z inserts you were looking into?

Out of all of the samples I have here with me now, I do not have a good enough match. I am supposed to be getting samples from another source.
This is an interesting shade and finish of material. Very hard to find.

It is to my knowledge like this:

79-80 Z28 - Brown/Bronze/Chocolate (whichever you prefer to call it). This is what is sold here.
79-81 Berlinetta - Brushed Aluminum, 'stainless', silver. It is silver in color
81 Z28 - Is a lighter shade of brown. Honestly, it is like if you combined the silver and the brown together.
79-81 RS - Black Crackle. This is the plastic that is under the inserts. They did not have any metal on the dash.

That is what it original, to the best of my knowledge
